11.1.10 Molly Duggan Associates launches the ONESF Campaign, promoting San Francisco as a premier place to work and live. The campaign represents the City’s commitment to building a stronger future through the Mayor and Board of Supervisors approved citywide, ten-year Capital Plan. The Capital Plan anticipates nearly $27 billion in funding across all service areas and department types.

Detail: In 2006, addressing decades of underfunded infrastructure, the Mayor and Board of Supervisors approved San Francisco’s first citywide, ten-year Capital Plan.  It was the first time the City family thought comprehensively about its infrastructure and started down a road to recovery. The City has since received voter approval for major seismic improvements; dramatically increased funding to its streets program; broken ground on or opened a wide range of new libraries, parks, hospitals, pipelines, transit lines and museums; and increased the funding of our state of good repair renewal needs. The FY 2011-2020 Capital Plan continues the commitment to protecting the City’s infrastructure by increasing funding for state of good repair renewals and investing in key seismic and service enhancements.

10.7.10 Molly Duggan Associates supports the Port of San Francisco’s promotional efforts in welcoming the biggest Fleet Week celebration in 20 years. This Fleet Week focuses in part on the armed forces humanitarian efforts worldwide. Just beneath the sound barrier breaking acrobatics of the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels precision flying team you will find the Embarcadero is lined with the patriotic promotional banners celebrating our brave men and women of the United States armed forces. Molly Duggan Associates wants to thank each of you for serving our country.

10.1.10 Environmental law is fundamentally linked to a healthier world. Molly Duggan Associates supports Berkeley Law in their communications efforts to secure Berkeley as the epicenter of environmental awareness, education, and engagement.

Berkeley Law’s up-to-the-minute curriculum includes the nation’s first course on climate change law and policy. The school’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment conducts multidisciplinary research and translates empirical findings into smart public-policy solutions.

9.15.10 Molly Duggan Associates launches the Alameda County's Acute Tower Replacement (ATR) Project website. This construction project will rebuild the Highland Hospital acute care tower, which will be operated by Alameda County Medical Center. It is crucial for providing continued healthcare services to the people of Alameda County. When completed in 2017, the project will bring Highland Hospital into compliance with the State of California’s strict seismic safety laws. The ATR Project promises to carry on Highland Hospital's proud traditions and build on its strengths far into the future.

Detail: Highland Hospital is the largest teaching hospital in the East Bay and is a reflection of the county’s commitment to training the doctors of tomorrow with residencies in Internal Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Emergency Medicine. In addition, Highland Hospital is home to the UCSF/East Bay General Surgery Residency Program.

6.1.10 Human Rights is at the center of the Spring-Summer 2010 issue of the Transcript Magazine. Molly Duggan Associates works closely with Berkeley Law to produce a magazine that takes compelling look at the influences and challenges facing human rights researchers today. The story follows a pair of UC researchers as they risk their lives to help bring human rights to the Central African Republic. This issue of the magazine also tackles the challenges faced by California’s prison system. Find out why Berkeley Law’s Jonathan Simon thinks California’s penal system is punishing the entire state. On the lighter side, enjoy learning about some of the Bay Areas most delicious restaurants from litigator and restaurateur Stuart Gordon.

5.01.10 Clean, reliable water delivery is core to thriving in the San Francisco Bay Area. Molly Duggan Associates supports the San Francisco Public Utility Commission in their communications efforts to media, neighbors and other interested parties related to the Water System Improvement Program. The Water System Improvement Program includes more than 80 projects spanning more than seven counties—from the Central valley to downtown San Francisco.

Detail: The SFPUC, together with 26 wholesale customers, launched a $4.6 billion Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) to repair, replace, and seismically upgrade the San Francisco Regional Water System’s aging facilities. Built in the early to mid-1900s, many parts of the San Francisco Regional Water System, often referred to as the Hetch Hetchy System, are nearing the end of their working life, with crucial portions crossing over or near to three of the nation’s most active earthquake faults. The WSIP will reinforce vulnerable portions of the system to withstand an earthquake and enhance water treatment processes to ensure a reliable supply of water for our customers. For the current status of the program, refer to the latest Quarterly Report under Reports.

The WSIP is focused on creating long-lasting improvements to the water system infrastructure in order to ensure a reliable, high-quality source of water for 2.5 million plus residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the four Bay Area counties served. In addition, this improvement program will help to ensure that water will be available after a major earthquake. Some parts of the water system cross over or are near to three of the nation’s most active earthquake faults: the San Andreas, Hayward and Calaveras faults. A major earthquake on any of these faults would likely cut off most customers from their water service for at least 30 days, if not longer. One of the primary goals of the WSIP is to deliver water to 70 percent of customers within 24 hours of a major earthquake.

University of California,
Berkeley,
School of Law

Berkeley Law is a community of thinkers and doers exuberantly engaged in life and one of the nation's premier law schools, located at one of the world's great universities, in one of the most vibrant places on the planet. When the University of California was founded in 1868 – a decade before Berkeley itself was incorporated–the school was a frontier outpost of learning. Almost a century and a half later, UC Berkeley and the UC Berkeley School of Law still stake their claim at the intellectual frontier.
